Sal Alosi Hired by UCLA

Former Jets strength coach from Massapequa who was at center of tripping scandal gets job with high profile program.

Massapequa resident and ex-Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi is back in the big time.

Alosi, who resigned last year after he was seen tripping a Miami Dolphins player during a Dec. 2010 game, will join the coaching staff of UCLA, according to the Associated Press.

TV replays showed Alosi sticking his knee out to trip Miami special teams player Nolan Carroll near the sideline.

The former Massapequa and Hofstra player apologized and was suspended without pay following the incident, but he later resigned after it was learned that he ordered Jets players to stand near the sidelines.

Alosi worked as a strength coach with the Bryant University athletic department.

He was hired Monday by new UCLA head coach Jim Mora, Jr. Alosi and Mora had both worked together with the Atlanta Falcons.
