Are both a part of humanity. Each vying for your attention and cooperation while you navigate the trials and failures of the rigorous terrestrial plane.
Both are formidable forces that tend to repel the other, comparable to the polar ends of a magnet; yet both are a piece of the whole. Possessing different identities and purposes: one to protect, and the other sacred truth, causes a collision of duality.

Magnetism is imperceptible to the naked eye, but is at work perpetually polarizing and repelling, not to gain an upper hand, but because that is its inherent state. This battle will manifest in actions that are visible, calling to mind a double-sided scale. How does yours measure up? Are the opposing sides balanced? Off kilter? Completely out of alignment? A few tweaks could reset what has come undone.
The Ego ultimately wants to keep you safe, but unfortunately may display as selfishness, greed, or even malice. The Soul is God’s divine Energy propagated into billions of human forms that were it not for His animating source, would all fall asunder.

Lent can help repair any damage or disproportions in the Soul/Ego relationship by enriching with prayer, penitential reflections, and supplementing our very essence with what it craves and requires. Draw closer to The Holy One with prayerful meditations, repentance, and almsgiving.
Fasting also helps one to focus on spirituality while the needs of the physical body are temporarily curtailed. Giving attention to the Soul nourishes the flesh. Recall, Jesus sustained for forty days and nights in the desert without relying on earthly edibles, but was replenished by God’s Will and fortitude.
Where are you placing your attention: The Soul or the Ego? If you are not pleased with your position, an altered viewpoint can hold the potential for vast transformation. Pray, fast, give alms, and sit still with The Almighty, who is always present, ever- loving, and eternal-grace.
