SPCA Raising Money For Care Of Dog Left Out To Die
The SPCA says the dog, Madonna, is recovering, but the organization needs help paying for her treatment.

The Nassau County SPCA is looking for donations to help pay for the care of Madonna, a Pit Bull that was found left outside a home in February with no food, water or shelter.
According to the SPCA, a SPCA detective was called to a home in Roosevelt on Feb. 6. When he arrived, officials say he heard a dog barking as if it was in distress. The detective looked through an opening in a wood fence on the property, and allegedly say he saw a 4-year-old female Pit Bull, Madonna, standing on a towel outside without any food, water or shelter.
Madonna had visible ribs protruding through her skin, which was discolored, and she was shaking. The SPCA said that the protruding ribs and skin discoloration, which were stains from her own urine and feces, were signs of long-term neglect. The day she was found, it was 32 degrees outside.

This week, the SPCA arrested Maurice Hankins, 36, of Massapequa. He was charged with torturing or injuring animals/failure to provide sustenance.
Now, the SPCA is looking to help raise money for Madonna. The SPCA has already paid for her recovery, but is hoping donations from caring people will help them make back some of the cost, so they can care for more animals.
