Driver, Under Influence, Arrested For Slamming Into Home: Police

It happened on Denise Street home on Wednesday night.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A Valley Stream man was arrested Wednesday night after he was driving under the influence and smashed into a Massapequa home, police said.

James Wheeler, 20, at the wheel of a 2022 Ford Ranger, crashed into the garage of a Denise Street residence at 11 p.m.

Prior to the arrest, officers found Wheeler in possession of two plastic straws and a substance believed to be cocaine, authorities said.

No one was injured, and no structural damage was reported.

Wheeler was taken to a hospital for evaluation. He is charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired-alcohol, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was released on an appearance ticket. Wheeler is due in court on June 8.
