Westfield Sunrise Mall to Host Hope Runs Here 5K Run/Walk Aug. 17
Hundreds Across Tri-State Expected to Participate in Competitive Race to Fight Breast Cancer
Westfield Sunrise Mall will serve as the start and finish points of the ninth annual LI2Day Hope Runs Here 5K run/walk to raise breast cancer awareness on August 17 at 8:30 a.m. Hundreds of participants are expected to take part in the event, which will be held in memory of Bonnie Levine, who passed away at the age of 36 following a battle with the disease. Proceeds from the event will benefit the LI2Day nonprofit organization, which to date has raised more than $7 million to fight all cancers on Long Island.
“Westfield Malls are proud to be a part of Long Island’s fight against breast cancer and other types of cancers, and to support LI2Day’s mission to raise awareness and funds for cancer research,” said Westfield South Shore and Sunrise Marketing Director Vanessa Mitton.
There will be award medals presented to the top male overall, top female overall, top male and top female masters division, top overall wheelchair division, top three overall cancer survivors (other than breast cancer), and top three overall breast cancer survivors, as well as awards presented to the top three males and females in 19 different age ranges. All participants will receive commemorative shirts, enjoy post-race refreshments and be eligible to participate in raffles. All cancer survivors will also be recognized.
