1. Village of Massena resident calls for action on King Street properties in disrepair (northcountrynow.com) — Village officials in Massena are moving toward demolishing long-blighted houses on King Street after a nearby resident described worsening conditions, wildlife infestations, and constant cleanup of bird droppings. The village has already held a public hearing, and bids for demolition could be opened in July, with leaders also pressing to finally tear down the former Woodlawn Hotel on Woodlawn Avenue. 
2. Collaboration between federal and local law enforcement leads to seizures of drugs, guns and money (irs.gov) — Federal and local authorities have shut down three unlicensed marijuana dispensaries operating in Massena, seizing large quantities of drugs, guns and cash after a joint investigation. Officials say the effort, involving Massena Police and St. Lawrence County agencies, aims to protect youth and crack down on illegal cannabis businesses that allegedly sold prohibited and youth-targeted THC products.
3. Fulton County looks to get ahead of data center spread (dailygazette.com) — Massena is being eyed for a massive 635‑megawatt data center that could use most of the nearby hydropower, add about 200 jobs, and become the town’s largest taxpayer. Officials across New York are scrambling to regulate such facilities amid concerns over electricity, water use, and higher power prices for nearby communities.
4. Massena hair stylist worked with celebrities, Miss Universe team (northcountrynow.com) — A longtime Massena stylist who owns Cloud 9 Salon on North Main Street has quietly built an international career, spending 13 years on the Miss Universe Organization’s official hair team. She traveled worldwide styling celebrities and pageant contestants, yet says her heart and growing reservation-based business remain with loyal clients in Massena and the North Country.
5. Nine Alfred State Students Are Attending The Skills USA Championship (wlea.net) — A Massena student, Christian Hall, is among nine Alfred State students competing this week at the national SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta, showcasing talents from prepared speech to carpentry and welding. Hall is returning to Nationals after a strong 2025 finish, as the group represents New York against thousands of other state champions.
