Witness the Wind: Community Clay Workshop

Join Mastic Beach artist Jessamyn Go and the Mastic Beach Conservancy's Ecology Art Lab for a free, hands-on community clay workshop as we begin creating Witness the Wind—a collaborative public art installation for Violet Cove.

Participants ages 5 and up are invited to explore the creative possibilities of clay while contributing to a ceramic sculpture inspired by the movement of wind along our shoreline. Guided by Jessamyn Go, you'll learn simple hand-building techniques—including pinching, coiling, and slab construction—to create ceramic forms that may become part of the final wind-activated artwork.

No experience is necessary, and beginners are welcome. Whether you're trying clay for the first time or have worked with it before, this is an opportunity to make something meaningful while helping shape a lasting public artwork for our community.

Witness the Wind celebrates the connection between art, nature, and place—inviting residents to come together through creativity while reflecting on the power of wind as both a natural force and a renewable energy resource.

This workshop is free and open to the public.

Ages: 5+
Cost: Free (Registration required) 
Accessibility: ASL and Spanish interpretation available upon request during registration. Accessible parking and an ADA-compliant restroom will be available on site.
