• Father stabbed to death by his own son inside Long Island apartment on Labor Day: police (nypost.com) — A 69-year-old man was fatally stabbed inside his Mastic apartment on Labor Day, and his 33-year-old son has been charged with second-degree murder. Prosecutors say the victim managed to call 911 before collapsing, and the son was arrested nearby and remanded without bail pending his next court date.

• Drugged-Up Long Island Driver Who Killed Construction Worker After Blowing Red Light Hit With Homicide Charge (pulptastic.com) — A construction worker from Mastic, 38-year-old father of three Joel Sicon-Porix, was killed when an allegedly drug-impaired driver ran a red light and hit a paving crew in Nesconset. The driver faces aggravated vehicular homicide charges and a high bail, while a community fundraiser is helping support the victim’s young children.
