A SHAMPOO CHEMICAL CAN KILL YOUR DOG!!!

NATURAL CHEMICALS ARE NOT SAFE FOR OUR PETS!!

Our family dog named Ginger almost died when a groomer used a d-limonene shampoo on her. Within an hour, Ginger’s abdomen skin was very red. Ginger saw her vet who administered injections. The next day, Ginger’s skin was even worse. She would not let us touch her and she was moaning in pain And became lethargic and non responsive, so my vet told me to take her to the specialty vet hospital near me. I did and they needed to admit her and start treating her right away. She was near death. She stayed in ICU. She required about 10 different medicines To keep her alive. Ginger’s breathing became labored and she was extremely uncomfortable. I took her back to the hospital and by the time I got her there she was coughing up blood. The vets took an x-ray and she had a large amount of blood in her lungs. She was rushed in to an oxygen chamber and they took x-rays and told us it did not look good and she was in trouble. Our family was devastated by this and we thought we would never see her alive again. We just cried and cried and asked the vets to do everything they possibly could to save her. Ginger is now home but on strong medicine to treat her lungs and skin. She seems as she will pull through this. We are so grateful for this!! Ginger is a trooper and a fighter. This ingredient, d-limonene took Ginger months to get over it’s I’ll effects! The special vet care that was needed because of the extent of Ginge’rs injuries was very costly but the heartache of seeing her suffer was too much to bear.

I want to let people know the possible dangers of pet shampoos containing d-limonene. My wish is to save another dog and family from this traumatic experience. The health risks associated with d-limonene are eye, skin and lung irritation in varying degrees. Animals may also exhibit hypothermia, tremors, ataxia, excess salivation, agitation and lethargic behavior. D-limonene can also cause liver and kidney failure, coma or death. There is clear evidence in lab studies that it caused cancer in male rats.

After all the research I discovered I cannot believe that d-limonene can still be used in pet products. There are much safer ingredients to use instead. D-limonene is a federal hazardous substance!!! Don’t let any other dog risk their life. Please let legislators know we are serious aobut our pet’s safety so they can ban the use of d-limonene in pet products. Please go to the web address below to learn more
