Hospital Council Announces Promotions within Its Health Insurance Enrollment Programs Division

Medford resident promoted to the position of Program Coordinator for the Consumer Assistance Program at the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council.

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. - The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council (NSHC), the association that represents all of Long Island’s hospitals, announced three promotions within its Health Insurance Enrollment Division. The Hospital Council is a lead navigator agency for the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Insurance Marketplace. It also serves as a facilitated enrollment agency for aged, blind, and disabled consumers in collaboration with the Suffolk County Department of Social Services. Both enrollment programs are NYSDOH grant funded. Promoted were:

Stacy Villagran to the position of Senior Director for Health Insurance Programs. Villagran is a resident of West Babylon and held the title of Director of Grants Administration at the Hospital Council before being named to this new and expanded role. She has managed the Hospital Council’s state grant-funded insurance enrollment programs since 2000. She will now assume a broader role in community outreach on health insurance programs and related policy issues.

Michelle Bates to the position of Program Coordinator for the Consumer Assistance Program for Aged, Blind, and Disabled. Bates will take the lead role in developing this new enrollment program, including supervising enrollers and working with community leaders to establish local enrollment sites. Bates, a resident of Medford, served as Lead Navigator for the insurance enrollment program since 2009.

Nefertiti Townes to the position of Lead Navigator. Townes, a resident of Central Islip, will oversee the daily activities of the three navigators within the Navigator Program. Townes has served as a Facilitated Enroller/Navigator for the Hospital Council’s public insurance programs since 2008.

The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council represents the advocacy interests of all Long Island hospitals. NSHC helps enhance healthcare for all Long Islanders by representing the interests of its member hospitals before lawmakers, regulatory agencies, the media, and the public.
