Man Admits To Killing 26-Year-Old Man During Medford Robbery

The two men knew each other after they met in a methadone clinic in 2014.

A Bay Shore man admitting on Friday to killing a 26-year-old man during a robbery in Middle Island last year, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.

Michael Dirkschneider, 31, pleaded guilty to a charge of second degree murder at a court conference, the DA said.

During the homicide investigation, Suffolk County police recovered the murder weapon, a .45 caliber handgun, from Dirkschneider’s home on Diamond Street in Bay Shore.

He waived his right to an appeal and will be sentenced to prison for 20 years-to-life by State Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro on May 23, the DA said.
