Medford Man ID'ed as Victim in Fatal Hit-and-Run

The man was hit by a car in Coram on Saturday.

Police have tentatively identified the victim of Saturday’s fatal hit-and-run in Coram as a 37-year-old Medford man.

Police did not release the man’s name pending positive identification by Suffolk County Police detectives and the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, but said the man’s next of kin has been notified.

According to police, the man was walking on Route 112 between Granny Road and Route 25 when he was hit by a vehicle that was traveling north at about 5:55 a.m. Saturday.

The vehicle, believed to be light in color, possibly tan, with front-end damage, fled the scene northbound toward Route 25, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still searching for the vehicle as the investigation continues. detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
