
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man outside a Shirley residence late Friday night.
According to police, Seventh Precinct officers responded to 446 Auborn Avenue around 11:30 p.m. after a 911 caller reported shots fired.
The man who was shot, 23-year-old Jamar Lamar, of Shirley, was transported by private vehicle to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-854-6394 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
