5 Hurt After SUV Flips Off Long Island Expressway

The crash occurred Friday afternoon.

MEDFORD, NY – Five people were injured when an SUV being driven by a woman without a license crashed and flipped off the side of the Long Island Expressway Friday afternoon, police said.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. about a half mile east of Exit 65–Horseblock Road in Medford.

According to Suffolk Police, a Chevy Tahoe was traveling westbound in the right lane when it struck the passenger side mirror of a GMC pickup truck that was traveling in the center lane.

After striking the mirror of the GMC, the Chevy veered off the road and overturned off right shoulder of the roadway. The driver of the Chevy and four passengers were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. No one in the GMC was injured. The driver of the Chevy, a woman in her 30s who police not did name, was issued a summons for driving without a license.
