MEDFORD, NY —Suffolk police on Friday released a surveillance image of a man they say sped away from a police officer in Medford last month.

An officer from the 6th Precinct saw a man speeding in an SUV and then crossing a double yellow line into oncoming traffic on Granny Road at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 24, police said.

The officer then tried to get the driver to pull the vehicle over on eastbound Granny Road, near Prospect Avenue, but he drove away, police said, adding, the vehicle was described as a black Hyundai SUV with a Connecticut license plate containing the numbers 615 ZGU.

Police have classified the crime third-degree fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor.
