Trio Pleads Guilty To Trafficking Drugs Out Of LI Store

The store owner and two clerks admitted on Tuesday to selling K-2, an illegal controlled substance out of a local convenience store.

A store owner and two clerks pleaded guilty on Tuesday to trafficking drugs out of a Medford convenience store, according to the U.S. Attorney.

Osman Ak, 45, of Holbrook, Murat Ak, 35, of Holbrook, and Mehmet Akpinar, 51, of Nesconset, admitted to selling K-2, an illegal controlled substance, out of Eyup Gas and Convenience Store, Inc., the U.S. Attorney said

The three were arrested on Sept. 28.

The trio trafficked K-2 or “spice” from the convenience store owned and operated by Osman, the U.S. Attorney said.

The sales were made out of a cigar boxes hidden behind the cash register and the K-2 was packaged in glitter bags with cartoon and cartoon-like characters including “Dopey,” one of Disney’s Seven Dwarfs, and names like “OMG,” “Hayze Peachy King,” “Joker” and “Hayze Hawaiian Ultra," the U.S. Attorney said.

All three face up to 20 years’ imprisonment.
