• The Grove UMC in Medina starting a community choir (orleanshub.com) — A new Medina Community Choir is being organized by The Grove United Methodist Church, with an informational meeting set for 7 p.m. on Aug. 19 at 11004 West Center St. Pastor Barb Brewer has lined up Lockport Chorale director Eddie Reeb and Lyndonville organist Tom Wenhold to lead the group, which hopes to present three concerts a year.
   

• Architecture, indigenous studies professors receive Mellon grant to plan public greenspace in Medina (buffalo.edu) — A new public greenspace is being planned along the Erie Canal in Medina, backed by a $195,000 Mellon Foundation grant to two UB professors. Working with Medina stakeholders, Indigenous leaders and state agencies, the team aims to transform a former industrial site into a welcoming landscape that highlights apple heritage, Haudenosaunee history and the village’s unique canal location.
