4th Person Arrested In Stealing From Nassau Post Office: Report

MERRICK, NY — A fourth person was been taken into custody in connection to stealing from the Merrick Post Office, News 12 said.

Three men were picked up by police early Monday as they broke into the drop box outside the Fisher Avenue facility, detectives said.

The four people were arrested at the post office where, News 12 said, people have complained about a check-washing scam.

News 12 first reported about the scheme last month.

One woman said she mailed four checks from the mailbox adjacent to the Merrick Post Office with four envelopes containing checks. One check for $2,700 was washed and cashed, News 12 said.
