#63 – The Merrick Fair

The annual festival hits the Merrick streets this weekend.

The 21st annual Merrick fair hits the streets this Oct. 21 to 23.

The street fair, usually set for earlier in the month, will coincide with the Halloween parade. The Chamber of Commerce notes that pushing the date back is also a benefit since there aren't many local festivals going on at the same time.

The fair will begin Friday evening with rides in the train parking lot. Merrick Avenue will be closed both Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to make room for all the tents, games and merchandise from local businesses.

This year, heroes from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, police force, firefighters, EMS workers and veterans will be honored on Oct. 22 morning at 11 a.m. to kick off the festival.

There is a schedule of events and various coupons available at merrickchamber.org.
