Nestled in a shopping center just south of Sunrise Highway in Wantagh lives Snaps American Bistro, a foodie's dream.
This sleek, modern eatery is one to hit for gourmet fare at a price that is budget-friendly. The price fixe menu is $28.95 for three courses, while Thursday is $5 bacon cheeseburger night. Owner and chef Scott Bradley also adds other specials to the menu, such at $5 appetizer bowls or small plate deals.
As for dishes, the warm lobster sandwich is a favorite starter for many. Warm lobster salad smothered between two crispy pieces of Panini bread, topped with a sunny-side-up egg and drizzled with Bradley’s homemade mayonnaise hits the spot every time. Another popular starter is the blue cheese and short rib quesadilla. The tender meat is smothered by the warm cheese and hits the perfect balance between savory and sweet.

Moving on to the next course, Bradley has creative out-of-the-box dishes that will awaken even the dullest of taste buds. The hanger steak is always perfectly cooked and comes served with creamed spinach, horseradish sauce and Bradley’s homemade truffle fries. Bradley takes you to the Mediterranean with lamb chops and lemon couscous, served with an olive-cucumber-feta-onion-tomato relish.
If you want to go with something more casual, Snaps offers a variety of burgers, including the flatliner – which is topped with barbeque pulled pork and served between two bacon grilled cheese buns – and the mac truck, which has pepper jack macaroni and cheese added to the burger.
