Charitable Merrick Child Honored By Oyster Bay Politicians

Julianna Tand has raised more than $20,000 for Ronald McDonald House by creating and selling unique artwork.

MERRICK, NY — More praise is being showered on a Merrick girl for her altruistic abilities.

Julianna Tand, who creates sculptures and artwork, sells them to benefit Ronald McDonald House.

To date, the Old Mill Road School fifth-grader has raised more than $20,000 for the local chapter of the charitable organization that supports ill children and their families.

The Oyster Bay Town Board is recognizing the efforts of Tand. She was presented recently with a Town citation.

"Julianna is a talented and exceptional 5th grader who has made helping others, an important priority and we are so incredibly proud of her," Councilwoman Laura Maier said.

Tand's mother Jennifer is an educator in Massapequa and taught Maier three children over the years.
