CHSD Announces Adult Continuing Education Program

September is back to school time for kids, but adults in the community can also take advantage of more than 100 recreational and educational opportunities offered through Bellmore-Merrick’s Adult Continuing Education Program, one of the largest programs in Nassau County.

Residents can visit the CHSD website after Aug. 29, 2011 at www.bmchsd.k12.ny.us to review this year’s course offerings.

Residents can view the wide variety of courses that are offered for everyone, whether your interests are to improve your career, to enrich your leisure time or to learn a new craft or skill. For example, residents can register in craft courses where you can learn to make a variety of holiday decorations for every season.

This fall, several new courses have been added to the program. Fees for Bellmore-Merrick’s programs vary according to the length of the course, the materials required and the expertise of the teacher.

Registrations will be accepted at the adult education office Aug. 29, 2011, through Sept. 16, 2011, at 1260 Meadowbrook Road in Merrick from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registrations will also be accepted on the first night each course meets in the adult education office between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. depending on availability.

A medical examination is recommended for courses involving physical activity. The board of education reserves the right to withdraw any course for any reason including lack of enrollment. Class hours may be adjusted to meet self-sustaining guidelines.
