Frank Ohman's New York Dance Theatre presents its 33rd season of "The Nutcracker" at Hofstra University

December 19 at 2:00 & 7:00 p.m. , December 20 and 21 at 12:00 and 5:00 p.m. at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse

Frank Ohman’s production is the largest Nutcracker on Long Island with added music, scenes, and dances, and is the only one presented in the tradition of New York City Ballet’s legendary George Balanchine. Tickets are $40 ($35 seniors/children) and are available at www.ohmanballet.org or by calling 631.462.0964. For the Friday 2:00 p.m. show only, all seats are $20 regardless of age. Guest artists include Dance Theatre of Harlem’s DaVon Doane, MOMIX principal dancer Nicole Loizides, NYDT’s Andrea Cillo, and several other artists from NYC companies. Artistic director Frank Ohman, Long Island’s only direct link to Balanchine, will appear as the mysterious “Herr Drosselmeir” in the Friday and Saturday evening shows. Maximilian Landegger, who performed the role of the young Prince at Lincoln Center for the past two years, will appear as one of the Princes in Ohman’s production. In all, a cast of 90 children, semi-professional, and professional dancers bring this charming story ballet to life on the stage of the John Cranford Adams Playhouse, Hofstra’s main theater.  This holiday classic appeals to all ages with its elegant Christmas Party Scene, its fierce battle between toy soldiers and giant mice, its dazzling live snowstorm, and its brilliant choreography and dancing.
