FUNDING OPPORTUNITY FOR CHILD CARE PROVIDERS AND OTHERS IMPACTED BY SUPERSTORM SANDY

Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) applauded the recent announcement by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regarding the successful acquisition of over $200 million in federal Social Services Block Grant funds to New York State. The funding will be used to rebuild, repair and renovate child care facilities impacted by Superstorm Sandy. Facilities eligible for the funding include both family-based and center-based child care programs, as well as mental hygiene and health care facilities impacted by the storm. The deadline for child care providers to apply for the funding is August 30, 2013.

“Superstorm Sandy had a devastating impact on Long Islanders from homes to businesses and more. Fortunately, with these funds secured, those who provide care for our youngest Long Islanders each day will finally be able to rebuild and repair after the storm,” said McDonough. “These funds are critically needed across our communities and local child care businesses should be sure to apply for this aid.”
