MERRICK, NY. — Four Merrick residents were displaced from their homes Sunday morning after a fire alarm went off at 6:44 a.m. due to a fire in the home’s first-floor garage, officials said.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said the fire in the garage drew response from the Merrick Fire Department, with mutual aid coming from Bellmore, Freeport and North Merrick departments, for a total of about 60 firefighters on the scene. The fire was under control within half an hour, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the NCPD arson bomb squad and the fire marshal, the fire marshal’s office said. While the four residents of the home were displaced, the fire marshal’s office said there were no injuries in the blaze.
