Hempstead Town Provides $19,000 In Grants To Auxiliary Police
The money will be used by the various units to help equip and train officers.

Supervisor Anthony J. Santino and the Hempstead Town Board are helping the volunteers who help police officers by awarding various Auxiliary Police Units $19,000 to fund their training.
The funding will provide $500 per unit in incorporated villages and $1,000 per unit in unincorporated hamlets. The Civil Defense Auxiliary Police assist in many police activities, such as crowd control, roadway crossing assistance and traffic control.
“The assistance that the men and women of the Auxiliary Police provide to our great police departments directly contributes to making America’s largest township one of the safest places in which to live and raise a family,” said Santino. “The Town of Hempstead is honored to be able to provide assistance to this group of volunteers.”
