LIRR Service Restored With Residual Delays After Disabled Train Leads to Nightmare Commute

Commuters have taken to social media to express their displeasure.

The Long Island Rail Road is now operating on or close to schedule out of Penn Station with residual delays expected as a result of an earlier disabled train in one of the East River tunnels, the LIRR said on its website Tuesday night.

Full westbound service into Penn has been restored, but it’s been a rough evening for commuters, who have been dealing with numerous delayed and canceled trains. Eastbound trains that did run were completely jam packed with people trying to get home.
