Long Island Parents Whipped 8-Year-Old Son With Extension Cord: Police
BREAKING: They were arrested after the boy's teacher noticed open lacerations, both old and new, on his back and arms, police say.
A Long Island couple faces felony assault charges for whipping their 8-year-old son with an extension cord, Nassau Police said.
Oluwafeyi Faniyi, 30, and Olufemi Faniyi, 32, of Mirin Avenue in Roosevelt, were arrested on Monday. According to police, they disciplined their son for misbehaving by whipping him with the cord.
Police were notified after a teacher at the boy's school noticed open lacerations, both old and new, on his back and arms, police said. The child was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released to a family member, police said.

The boy's parents are each charged with second degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. They will be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
