Man Attacked McDonald's Employees During Robbery: Police
Police say two employees were held at gunpoint and forced to open the restaurant's safe for the robber.

A Bronx man was arrested on Monday after police say he broke into a McDonald's late at night, threatened the employees and robbed the restaurant.
According to police, Adrian Torivio, 45, of East 196th Street, entered the McDonald's at 1050 Front St. in Uniondale through an unlocked door around 3:30 a.m. on Monday. Once inside, police say Torivio pulled out a handgun and told the three employees — a 47-year-old woman, a 41-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man — to get to the back of the restaurant. The 41-year-old woman was able to sneak out of the restaurant.
Once in the back of the restaurant, police say Torivio struck the 47-year-old woman in the head with a hard object and took a cell phone from the man's pocket. He then ordered them to open the safe, police say, which they did. Torivio took all the cash from the safe, police say.

However, officers arrived before Torivio could flee, police say, and they placed him under arrest without incident. All of the money was recovered, and the female employee suffered a minor head injury.
Torivio is charged with first-degree robbery, three counts of second-degree robbery and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
