Man Broke Into Elderly LI Woman's Home And Raped Her: Police

Police say he sexually assaulted the woman multiple times before she managed to flee and call for help.

ROOSEVELT, NY — A man is charged with multiple counts of sexual assault after police say he broke into an elderly Roosevelt woman's home and assaulted her multiple times.

According to police, at 5:10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, Kenneth Saquon Mallete, 33, broke into a home on Conlon Road in Roosevelt through a back window. He went to the second floor where he woke up a 77-year-old woman, police say. After a short conversation, police say Mallete sexually assaulted the woman multiple times.

At one point during the assault, police say Mallete left the room to check on a noise from an upstairs bedroom. While he was gone, the woman fled the house and called police from a neighbor's home.

Police say Mallete fled the home before officers arrived. An investigation with assistance from the New York City Police Department led to the arrest of Mallete in Brooklyn.

Mallete is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual act by forcible compulsion and predatory sexual assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.
