Man Tries to Rob North Merrick Bakery
He was armed with a knife. It happened Friday afternoon, police say.

NORTH MERRICK, NY - A man armed with knife tried to rob a North Merrick bakery Friday afternoon, but he picked the wrong bakers to mess with.
According to police, the would-be robber entered Vincent's Bakery, located at 1169 Merrick Avenue, at about 3 p.m. and demanded cash from an employee. The employee refused, police said.
A second employee of the bakery then came from the back kitchen and knocked the knife from the man's hand, police said.

The man then ran out of the store and fled on foot southbound through a gas station and then eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue, police said.
No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, 5-foot-11 and about 150 pounds. He was wearing a gray hooded shirt, blue jeans and a black bandana covering his face.
