Man's Attempt to Rob Merrick Bank Thwarted by Teller: Police
The man fled the bank after the teller ripped up his demand note and threw it in the garbage, police say.

MERRICK, NY - A man's attempt to rob a Merrick bank was thwarted by a teller who ripped up his demand note and threw it in the garbage, according to Nassau County Police.
The man entered TD Bank on 2260 Merrick Road, approached a teller and handed her a demand note on Thursday at about 5:40 p.m., police said.
After the teller tore up the note and threw it out, the man, who was described as being 5-foot-6-inches to 5-foot-9-inches tall, clean shaven, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and gloves, fled the bank without any proceeds and was last seen heading through the parking lot, police said.

There were five employees and two customers in the bank during the attempted robbery. No injuries were reported.
