Men Attempt to Rob Woman Walking Her Dog in Merrick

The incident occurred Thursday morning, police say.

A woman who was walking her dog in Merrick was approached by two men who tried to rob her Thursday morning, police said.

The 35-year-old woman was walking her dog on Bushwick Avenue at the intersection of Schermerhorn Street when she was approached by the two men around 6:30 a.m., police said.

One man placed his hands on the woman’s shoulder, forced her to kneel and demanded money, police said.

The woman told the man she had no money on her as the man went through her pockets, police said.

The woman was able to get back up and began to scream, police said. She was then able to run away.

The two men fled in an unknown direction.

The first man is described as Hispanic, in his 20s, 6-feet tall, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, gloves and a dark bandana covering his face. The other man was only described as being smaller than the first man, police said.
