French class students from Merrick Avenue Middle School and Grand Avenue Middle School recently came together to enjoy a night of hockey and practice speaking French at a New York Islanders game.
Accompanied by French teachers Denise Schleith and Richard Zawislak, students watched as the New York Islanders defeated the Montreal Canadiens.

Before the game, the young spectators had the chance to practice their French skills conversing with Montreal native, Kevin Poulin, who currently plays for the New York Islanders. The students also met with Jean-François Chaumont, a sports writer from Le Journal de Montréal, a Montréal newspaper, and Islanders Hall of Famer Mike Bossy.
