Merrick Resident Joins The Lustgarten Foundation and Nearly 8,000 Tri-State Area Residents in Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk
Jason Faver Will Walk to Find a Cure on October 12 at Jones Beach

Merrick resident Jason Faver will support his father’s battle against pancreatic cancer by joining nearly 8,000 tri-state area residents at The Lustgarten Foundation’s 14th annual Long Island Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk. The walk will be held on Sunday, October 12, at Jones Beach.
The Lustgarten Foundation is the nation’s largest private foundation dedicated to funding pancreatic cancer research. Due to Cablevision’s support of the Foundation, 100 percent of every dollar that Jason and his fellow walkers raise will go directly to pancreatic cancer research.
Jason’s active and healthy father Allen had lost nearly 50 pounds in one year, yet his doctors didn’t know the cause. Finally, an ultrasound revealed a tumor on his pancreas. Fortunately, Allen was able to have surgery to remove the tumor before it spread. Motivated by his father’s courage and positive attitude, Jason decided to get involved in the fight against pancreatic cancer. This October Jason will participate at the Long Island walk for the first time with family and friends as Team “Allen’s All-Stars” to help raise awareness of pancreatic cancer’s silent symptoms and raise funds for research to develop an early detection test.

Jason believes that participating in the walk is an inspirational way to celebrate his father’s survival. And for Jason, it is also fulfilling to know that 100 percent of all money he raises goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.
“We are deeply grateful for Jason’s devotion to the fight against pancreatic cancer in honor of his father’s battle,” said Kerri Kaplan, executive director, The Lustgarten Foundation. “Research offers hope that one day, early detection of pancreatic cancer will require nothing more than a routine blood test, and that better treatments can be found, eventually leading to a cure. Working together, we are closer to realizing that goal every day.”
