Merrick Salon Manager Stole Half a Million Dollars: Police

BREAKING: He wrote business checks payable to cash and stole more than $500,000 over a four-year period, police say.

MERRICK, NY – The manager of a Merrick salon stole more than half million dollars from the business over a four-year period, Nassau Police said.

William Wittrock, 34, was arrested on Wednesday at his home on Quebec Drive in South Huntington.

According to police, Wittrock was employed as a clerk/manager at Tom New York located at 135 Merrick Road.

From August 2012 until August 2016, Wittrock issued business checks payable to cash and bank records show that he endorsed them with his name and either cashed or deposited them into his personal bank account, causing a loss of more than $500,000 to the salon, police said.

Wittrock is charged with second degree grand larceny and will be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
