Merrick School Board Candidate: Dr. Pamela Banks
Banks is hoping to be elected to the Merrick School Board.

Dr. Pamela Banks has been a member of the Merrick community for 35 years. She is widowed with four children – Alexandra, 20, at Hofstra; Caroline, 19, who is attending Delaware University; Harrison, a sophomore at Calhoun High School and Jacqueline, a sixth-grader at Levy Lakeside Elementary School.
Banks has been a member of the Lakeside PTA, was vice president of the Merrick Avenue Middle School PTA, president for two terms and vice president for two terms of the Calhoun High School PTA. On the Central High School District PTA Council, Banks served as president for two years and corresponding secretary for two years.
She has sat on various committees at her time on the PTAs, including health and wellness committees, character building, anti-hazing, and ethics committee, as well as curriculum committee. Banks also was on the athletic field committee at Calhoun and has sat on the budget lay committee.

Dr. Banks received her Bachelor of Science from Adelphi University in 1981, a Master of Science from New York University in 1983 and was named a doctor of osteopathic medicine upon her 1987 graduation from NYCOM. She has practiced in Merrick for 14 years.
