Merrick Store Robbed In Part Of Ongoing Robbery Spree

The knife-wielding robber has hit nine stores on Long Island since February.

A Merrick store was robbed Tuesday night as part of an ongoing string of knifepoint robberies that have been taking place across Long Island since February.

According to police, a man armed with a large kitchen knife entered Game Stop, located at 2212 Sunrise Highway, at 8:59 p.m., approached the clerk and demanded cash from the register. The clerk gave the robber money, and he fled on foot eastbound on Sunrise Highway towards Henry Street.

There were two employees in the store at the time. No one was injured.

The robber is described as a Hispanic or light-skinned black man, wearing a black hooded jacket, jeans, gray gloves, a black knit cap and a dark mask. Police have linked him to six robberies in Nassau County and three in Suffolk.
