LI Woman Among The Victims Of Fake SBA Loan Scheme: Police

MERRICK, NY — A Suffolk County man was arrested in connection to a grand larceny that took place last summer in Merrick, Nassau police said.

Anthony Boglino, 38, of Miller Place, met a woman, 48, and led a scheme as the founder of Miele Consulting Corporation, police said.

He helped her secure a Small Business Administration (SBA) loan. The victim signed a contract with Boglino to obtain a $50,000 loan. She paid $1,100 in processing fees, but never received the grant, police said.

During an investigation, detectives discovered nine other victims who paid Boglino fees ranging from $150 to $3,682. Contracts were sent to victims on SBA letterhead. No SBA loans were received by the applicants.

Boglino was arrested on Feb. 6 without incident. He is charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny, two counts of first-degree scheme to fraud, six counts of petit larceny and 23 counts of second-degree forgery. He is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
