Nassau Man Tried To Ram Driver Off Road: Police

Police say he repeatedly rammed into another car on the Meadowbrook Parkway and even kept it up while officers were chasing him.

MERRICK, NY — New York State Police arrested a Hempstead man on Wednesday after they say repeatedly rammed his car into another on the Meadowbrook State Parkway. According to police, Armondo Carcamo-Rivera, 41, of Hempstead, was seen repeatedly ramming his Toyota Tundra into an Audi on the Meadowbrook southbound near Exit M8 in Merrick at 9:38 p.m.

State troopers and State Parks Police tried to intervene and stop Carcamo-Rivera's car, police said, which became hooked in the bumper of the Audi. But Carcamo-Rivera refused to stop, police said, and managed to unhook his car from the Audi's bumper. He fled a short distance, but then went back to the Audi and struck it again and pushed it, while officers were pursuing him, police said.

During the chase, police said Carcamo-Rivera stopped his car, backed into a Parks police car, and then fled again. Officers followed him into Suffolk County and to Howells Road in Bayshore, where police say his car became disabled and they placed him under arrest.
