Nassau Police ID Remains Of Latest MS-13 Victim

Police found the remains last week after arresting an MS-13 gang member for a different murder.

Nassau police have identified the remains of a man that were found in a wooded area in Roosevelt last week, another apparent victim of MS-13 violence.

Police say they recovered the remains of Josue Amaya Leonor, 19, of Roosevelt in the Roosevelt Preserve on May 30.

According to Newsday, the body was recovered a mile into the Roosevelt Preserve, near Frederick Avenue. Police said the person was most definitely a victim of MS-13, although they have not yet identified the body.

News 12 reported that the body was found five feet in the ground. Police learned about the remains after the arrest of Josue Figueroa-Velasquez, 18, of Freeport, who was charged in connection with the 2017 murder of 16-year-old Angel Soler. These remains were found about two miles from where Soler was buried.
