Nassau Woman Robbed At Knifepoint In Her Driveway

Police say the woman went to her car to get her purse, when she was robbed by an unknown man.

A woman was robbed in the driveway of her Merrick home early Wednesday morning, and police are seeking the public's help to find the robber.

According to police, a 65-year-old woman arrived at her Petit Avenue home from a night out around 1:30 a.m. She went into her house, and then realized she left her purse in her car. She went back out to get it, and on the way back into her house was confronted by an unknown man.

The man pulled out a knife and demanded her purse. The man took the purse and then fled on foot east on Horatio Avenue.

The robber was a dark-skinned man, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 165 pounds.

Police ask anyone with information about this crime, or who may be able to identify the man, to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
