Unemployment in both Nassau County and the Town of Hempstead saw a decrease in December. The Nassau County unemployment rate decreased 2.9 percent in December, according to statistics recently released by the state Department of Labor. The unemployment rate now stands at 6.7 percent, down from 6.9 percent in November.

The town unemployment rate for the month was 7.3 percent, down from 7.3 percent in November. It was also 6.7 percent in December 2009.
