Palma Thanks Parents for Successful Reopening

Editor's Note: The following letter was written by Merrick School District Superintendent Dr. Dominick Palma.

Today we had a very successful reopening of schools.

Nearly three-quarters of our children returned. As I toured the schools, I saw smiling children and relieved parents and staff everywhere. We have some additional good news.

Our bus company has indicted that we will have buses tomorrow on Wednesday, Nov. 7.  Please be patient as some pick-ups may be delayed or may not occur if the route is blocked. We will return to normal dismissal procedures wherever possible.

If your child normally uses bus transportation, but you would like to opt out for dismissal, please send a letter with your child.

On behalf of the Board of Education, central administration, building administration and staff we thank you for your cooperation. Please remain safe.

Dominick Palma
Superintendent of the Merrick School District
