• Queens man indicted, five others charged in large-scale narcotics bust in Nassau (longislandpress.com) — A large narcotics trafficking case in Nassau County allegedly included repeated drug sales in Merrick and even activity at a Merrick home, according to prosecutors. Six people have been charged in a yearlong investigation that authorities say uncovered hundreds of fentanyl transactions, unique stamped packaging, and a major stash of drugs, weapons, and cash in Queens.
   

• Wantagh 10-year-old serves up a big moment at the US Open (greaterlongisland.com) — A rising young tennis player who trains weekly at Carefree Tennis in Merrick just enjoyed a dream moment at the US Open, performing the ceremonial coin toss for the women's wheelchair singles final. Attendees shared deeply personal stories of loss and ongoing health impacts, while clergy and officials emphasized solidarity, pride, and the comfort many find returning to this beach each year.
