• New York Cookie Chain Chip City Suddenly Closes All Stores (hudsonvalleypost.com) — Chip City has permanently closed its Merrick shop at 2174 Merrick Road, along with all of its other locations in New York, New Jersey, and Texas, leaving workers suddenly jobless. The Queens-founded cookie chain shut down on October 1–2, citing economic pressures amid an internal lawsuit over unpaid compensation and federal loans. Local fans will now need new go-to spots for specialty cookies.
