Recently, the North Merrick School District held a party in honor of Alyse Middendorf who retired from the board after the 2011-12 school year.
Middendorf was on the board of education for 21 years and most recently served as the president.
Steve Enella ran unopposed for her seat and Neil Brown was named president of the board for the remainder of his three-year term.
