Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. Police arrested and charged a Roosevelt man Tuesday with a bank robbery that occurred in Merrick on Aug. 29.  Detectives arrested Omar Acosta, 35, of Hale Place, Roosevelt, on Tuesday and charged him with the bank robbery, as well as a burglary committed on May 31 at The Barn, located at 241 Hempstead Ave. in Lynbrook.   According to police, Acosta allegedly entered the Bank of America located at 2020 Merrick Road and handed a demand note to a teller. The teller complied and Acosta allegedly fled on foot with cash. There were two employees in the bank at the time of the incident.   Acosta is charged with third degree robbery and third degree burglary. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.   Photo: Nassau County Police.
