Progressive School of Long Island Celebrates Cultures With World Day and International Fair
The Progressive School of Long Island put on a World Day and International Fair Saturday complete with food, games and crafts from around the world.
The Progressive School of Long Island hosted a World Day and International Fair Saturday complete with food, games and crafts from around the world.
Parents from the school volunteered their time to help raise money for the school, as well as the Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT), a Haiti relief fund.
Visitors who bought tickets could redeem them for food, games or crafts. Various countries around the world were represented in a multicultural buffet ranging from Greece, Israel, India, Haiti, Australia and more. Almost all of the food was homemade.

Prashanta Jacobson, a 1999 PSOLI graduate, represented AMURT at the event. The group is raising funds for the people devastated by the earthquake in Haiti earlier this year. Visitors who made a $5 donation to the efforts received a Ty panda bear.
Among the craft activities for children, there was a table for Henna tattoos, rock paintings, face paintings and even Ukrainian egg decorating.
