Roosevelt House Fire Displaces 6 People, 3 Pets, Fire Marshal Says

The fire marshal's office said about 60 firefighters responded to a Roosevelt house fire Thursday that displaced several people and pets.

ROOSEVELT, NY — Six adults, three children, two dogs and a cat are all out of their home after a Thursday evening house fire in Roosevelt rendered the two-story residence uninhabitable, the Nassau County Fire Marshal said.

County fire officials said the fire alarm was raised at 6:33 p.m. at the home on Pennsylvania Avenue in Roosevelt, with the Roosevelt Fire Department responding and receiving mutual aid from Baldwin, Freeport, North Merrick and Uniondale departments. In total, fire officials said about 60 firefighters were on the scene, bringing the blaze under control within 30 minutes.

Authorities said no injuries were reported to firefighters or residents of the home. Nassau County police said Thursday night that the fire had been deemed non-suspicious, adding that the fire marshal and NCPD arson bomb squad had responded to the scene. The fire marshal’s office said both organizations were investigating the cause of the fire.
